The Dripping Sound from Distance (2023)
The Dripping Sound from Distance//เสียงหยดน้ำจากระยะ(2023)
EGO-NOMIC: LIFE IN A PLASTICOSPHERE, Jing Jai Gallery, Chiang Mai, Thailand, 2023
This project explores the delicate balance between humanity and nature, inspired by a journey to Thailand’s highest peak.
Guided by a local tribesman, we discovered a sacred wellspring where he shared stories of protective spirits and the spiritual importance of keeping the water pure. He warned that even a small disturbance at the source could bring misfortune, a concept that mirrors how a single spring eventually impacts the vast ocean. This narrative led us to create an interactive sculpture of water jars.
In their natural state, the jars emit a serene blue light and rhythmic dripping sounds. However, if someone gets too close, the light shifts to a striking red, the water becomes turbulent, and the peaceful sounds turn into a discordant noise, symbolizing the consequences of disrupting the natural world.
